Best prep book for Literature/U.S. History?

Barrons? Kaplan? Sparknotes? Which book is the best?

AMSCO and SparkNotes Online for USH…

Lit is more difficult. Contrary to what Kaplan and PR imply, you don’t really need to know their tips and lists of literary terms. I would simply take Collegeboard’s test to get a feel. There’s not much in the way of prep that I’ve figured out how to do.

I went from a 730–>760, but I didn’t prep in between, I only took practice tests before the first one. I guess it’s just a combination of learning more about analysis through independent reading and classwork, as well as gaining familiarity with the test questions. If you REALLY want my opinion, don’t take this test unless you know you can score really well naturally, somehow. I just feel like a 760 on this test stands out to college admissions officers more than (Hey, look I got 800 Chem 800 Bio 800 Math 2 just like every other Asian in California). But IDK, just take the CB test and see what you think.

i was in AP US and just used my review book for the class to study and got a 800. so if your in the class it helps a ton

for lit i just took a practice test before hand and got a 740. its more just being comfortable analyzing literature

For US History having a good teacher really really helps (I didn’t study for the SAT II and got a 770). Otherwise, I would use any practice books you have for the AP USH exam if you were in that class.

I used Barron’s prep book for literature and got an 800 on my second try (730-ish on my first try with no preparation), though I also took AP English beforehand. Good luck!

Echoing what others have said, Lit is hard to study for- there are hardly any advanced literary terms on the test, but the books cover them extensively. If you did extremely well without a lot of prep on SAT 1 CR, Lit should come easily to you.
