I'm planning to take the Chemistry subject test in November and need a helpful and informative book to study and practice from. I've already heard the names Princeton Review, Kaplan and Barron's from my friends, but I'm still not convinced about which one would be most suitable for me.

If you’re familiar with the material and just want practice tests, use the Sparknotes online Test Center. I scored about 770-790 the few times I took it and scored an 800 on the actual test.

Does anyone want to revive this thread? I’m gonna take chemistry this year, but not AP. Should I use Barron’s or Princeton or Kaplan from the start? I know SparkNotes tests have proven too nitty gritty and detailed for me, so that’s no question…

I personally am going for PR as I’m studying for the test with a normal chem class in school (basically using PR as a study outline). But Barron’s is known to be more detailed, so probably meant to really self study it. So it depends on how you plan on using it, if you can easily just grasp something than perhaps PR, if you need some extensive reading on it, Barron’s.
