Hey I'm having a bit of trouble with the writing part. I was wondering if you guys could tell me what the best book for the writing section is?

Barron’s writing workbook.

The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar

[Blackstone Review](http://www.amazon.com/Maximize-Your-Writing-Score-SAT/dp/1608446441/ref=la_B004EMB716_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343447834&sr=1-1) is superb. To the point, comprehensive, plenty(but not a lot) of examples, covers even the most difficult problems. It is less well known that the others, but none less interesting.

If you want to get a 900+ in writing: get Optimum English Grammar + Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar

NO NO NO!!! I recently received an 800 on the Writing section, and I can promise that the absolute best book to use is the official Collegeboard SAT Prep book. Those questions are as close as you’ll get to authentic SAT Writing questions.

I would recommend the Official Guide and Grammatix. Barron’s writing workbook is nice for grammar practice

The official guide only covers the very main topics. It’s like 50 pages max, and most of those 50 pages are practice questions. It doesn’t even cover major topics such as idioms(eg. He protested against the measure vs He protested on the new measure) that always appear on the real SAT. The SAT practice tests in the official book are wasted if you do them only for the writing section(or do the other sections later). It’s best to invest a few dollars in a dedicated book. As for your final statement, you will probably finish all the practice questions in the writing section of the strategy guide in a few minutes or so, and you will run out of practice questions. It’s simply not enough, only the official guide.

Perhaps your score is attributed to grammar learned at school and errors caught by your own ear?

I don’t know who said barron’s workbook but this thing is not similar to the real question at all! do not buy it

I can vouch for the The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar. Goes through every rule you need to know and its very concise.
