I'm going to take the test in October, so I'm going to start prepping over the summer. Which test book is best? I'm leaning towards Barron's because it's been good before.

barron's-- too much unnecessary information. trust me, please. use it only for practice tests.
for self-teaching, use AP Cliffs..

i know barron's is notorious for excess info. but i've also heard that it's very comprehensive.

Princeton Review and Sparknotes are what I used, along with five extra practice tests from Sparknotes. However, I found that Sparknotes tests were easier than the real thing and Princeton Review was harder. No matter what, there'll be some material that you have to make educated guesses on, but make sure you always guess (I made educated guesses by narrowing down to 2 or 3 on at least 2/5 of the test and got an 800, even with questions on the dissection of a grasshopper, which I'd never even done!).

Good luck.

i used 4 in total - kaplan, barron's, PR, and sparknotes.

personally, i really liked PR (i also used it for AP Biology) - it explained many of the processes easier than the other prep books had.. kaplan seemed harder than the actual test and sparknotes was easier. i thought that barron's had lots of unnecessary information that weren't included in any of the other SAT II prep books.

I have to choose between Literature, Physics, and Spanish for the SAT IIs. Which one is the easiest? Is it possible to self study for bio and chem over the summer and get 750+? Which test out of the 5 should I do?

I haven't taken most of those tests, but people who took them have said that physics is the easiest one to get a high score on, whereas chemistry is one of tha hardest.

Ahhh don't get the Barrons SAT II prep book. It had some mistakes, the questions were sometimes weird (the kind of stuff they would never ask), didn't help me at all. Really the best prep is your notes or book from biology class, and Cliffs AP.

ok thanks!

any other opinions? does anyone know if the campbell's biology study guide by martha taylor helps?

sooo.. use all the books?! Any one really really good book? hmm..

yeah, that's what i'd like to know...

From what I've heard on this forum, Cliff's AP is the way to go.
