Best restaurants near Cal?

Last time I visited Cal, which was on Cal Day, I ate at two restaurants–which i completely LOVEDDDDDD! First I ate at this chinese express place where i had coconut rice and sweet & sour chicken. It was in campus–im not sure the name of it. But later on some current Cal students took me and a group of my friends to this amazing restaurant–gypsy’s. I LOVED IT SO FREAKIN MUCH that calzone was so great.

Anywho, please name some good restaurants and say the type of restaurant it is (italian, mexican, chinese, etc)

Smart Alex(Alec's?) has good burgers and garlic fries. Slurp has good spicey tai noodles. Tantor Kitchen has good chicken and lamb curry. Fat Slice has cheap pizza. Cafe Intermezzo has good salads. Bear's Lair has greasy pizza and cheap beer. Free Speach Movement Cafe has overpriced soup. As for grocery stores, Andronico's, whole foods and Berkeley bowl are all way, way, way too expensive. You have to go to Safeway on college ave in Oakland for reasonably cheap food.

Naan and Curry. Indian food of champions.

wow, conor, a thousand thanks to you

thx guys =P

other possible grocery stores are Berkeley Bowl http://www.berkeleybowl.com/ and in North Berkeley, Monterey Market http://www.montereymarket.com/. There are Farmers Markets on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays http://www.shopinberkeley.com/b/farmersmarket/index.php. Also, don't forget The Cheese Board http://www.shopinberkeley.com/c/cheeseboard/index.php on Shattuck.
