Best Review Book for SAT Chem?

Hey guys. I just got a 690 and I want to apply to BA/MD programs... so yeah gotta improve that haha

Anywho I took AP Chem this year but it wasn't really intensive or anything so I'll get the best learning from a review book. So I need a book that's great review, but I don't want anything overwhelming and excessive since I only have til October, I want to go through an entire book, and I have to study other stuff simultaneously as well.

Any tips on books? Also, are there any books that are good specifically for tests? Like I'll need books that just have a bunch of good practice tests. Thanks for the help.

Scroll down to post number 193. Most people say Barrons is the best. But I haven’t used Barrons or PR so I have no idea.

Got an 800. I used my AP Chem Princeton Review for both the AP test and the SAT II. I did not use a separate SAT II Chem book for review. Did the practice test in the Official Subject Tests Study Guide by CB and the problems on the CB website.

Got it. Thanks. Now I have that book already cus I used to it review… kinda, not really. I’ll focus more now. But I used its practice tests already so is there any other book (other than PR too) that I can get solid practice tests? And numerous ones?

I did the practice tests in the Princeton Review and 2 of the 3 practice tests on sparknotes.com. Other than sparknotes having some incomplete questions, I found their tests to be useful. Plus, it’s free. You might want to check it out, though you need to make an account there. (I got an 800).

Trying not to hijack the thread here, but I’ll ask anyways. I took a somewhat decent Honors Chem course my sophomore year and won’t be taking AP Chem until senior. However, I wish to take the SAT Subject Test for Chemistry my junior year. What book would be recommended for someone who never took an AP Chem course and thus needs to learn some of the material from scratch? Any other tips?

^See my earlier post. Barrons apparently has a lot of extra information, so I think I will use it, seeing that I will never take AP Chem.

penguin, my daughter took Honors Chem but use PR, Sparknotes and her score came very close to her practice test. Not 800 but very decent. She didn’t prep much either. If you have the whole summer you should do well.

^aren’t Sparknotes’ tests like super hard? I got like a 580 and then scored more than 100 points on the real thing.

There was a thread on Chem prep books and actual scores( can’t find the link right now). Out of the 3 Sparknotes tests, I think the middle test is the one that is very closed to the real test, in terms of scores.

And should I use the SAT Barron’s or AP Barron’s?

Here is the link to practice vs real test scores.

Correction, I should have written PR and not SparkNotes that my daughter took in post #11.
