Used PR this time, Everyone says its hard but I thought it was pretty easy. Then i took the test today and it was a lot harder than PR. Does anyone have anymore suggestions? Im thinking of getting the Red book

Get the red book, it has the REAL tests.
You can also try the PR’s 1296.

I read Princeton review, but only did one section of its practice test. It was terrible and contained multiple errors. I bought two of the real tests that I did online, and printed out two tests from the free act guides for this year and a prior year.

I also did not like PR’s advice on algebra, which was mainly to rely on your calculator. That’s okay when you’re stuck, but it would be much slower than actually knowing algebra.

@eclark6,
Where did you find the guide for prior year?
I found this year and 05, but not the prior one.

I didn’t find last year. I did 2011-2012 and 2008-2009 linked from here:

I studied from the red book. It was good for studying the format and types of questions you will encounter on the test, but I found that the practice problems were easier than what was on the ACT I took today

almost all books are good, if you just take advantage of what they have to offer.

My personal faves:

PR 1296 (annoying typos in the answer keys, and overly difficult, but good practice nevertheless)

Barron’s ACT 36 (only good for math/english imo)

PR: Cracking (some good strategies that have helped me)

Real ACT: Best.Practice.Out.There

Preparing for the ACT booklets: there are 2 or 3 of these floating around and are entirely free, and they are real ACTs!! Only negative is that they don’t come with answer explanations.

@NCdukie I wasn’t real happy with PR either

I will try using the red book and barron’s next time. i’m really trying to improve my english and math scores
