DS would like to try one of these lights. For the past few years he’s mentioned how the long winters are effecting him and he woke up in a horrendous mood yesterday. He is a cheerful person. He said he’d really like to try one, and I think it’s a good idea.
Good housekeeping has Verilux Happy light full size as their #1 choice., but would like other suggestions. I don’t suffer from Depression during the winter, but I’m definitely low energy. Might be worthwhile to try it, too.
I don’t have personal experience with it, but Wirecutter recommends the Carex Day-Light Classic Plus. (They also have good things to say about the Verilux, but ended up recommending the one from Carex).
My daughter has the Carex for SAD. I got it for her over two years ago and she thinks it helps her. The light stayed home with her during the winter of 2020 and I got to use it, too. The big size is more comfortable and convenient to use than the travel sized SAD lamp we had before, even though it is kind of bulky. It is easy to position so you can be close enough to it and have it shine down on your eyes and still read without any glare or irritation. It has always worked reliably. I would buy it again.
I bought a variety of this item for DIL for Christmas this year -
She has used SAD lights before.

I just wanted to stop by and let everyone know how unbelievably well this light has worked for my son. It’s like it’s summer, he’s back to his cheerful demeanor, and it’s been really ugly weather for a couple weeks. He’s used it for 10 days and remarked how good he feels.
