Best SAT Books

I doubt that I got at least 2100 on June test.

So I plan to buy new books; I took Kaplan and I think it was retarded.

The Official SAT Study Guide and McGraw-Hill's SAT I are my picks.

That should do that trick, right?

I only need help on Critical Reading since English's my second language.

Official Guide (Blue Book) is a must. You also said McGraw-Hill's SAT I, which I really don't have any experience.

Another book I would recommend is Princeton Review, especially for CR strategy and vocab.

any other recommendations ?

i'm living outside US so it's quite difficult for me to get those books in local bookstores ... ... planning to buy online or to copy from library maybe ... hehe

I heard that Princeton Review sucks because of that Joe Blogg thing.

as an owner of McGraw Hill, I would highly recommend it

The bluebook and Barron's are the best books there are. My scores rose significantly after using them.

You should also look at Gruber's Complete Preparation for the New SAT. I have heard that book is pretty good.

I heard Gruber's is bad for CR, which is what I need

gruber good format, pr for extra practice, and for me kaplan is the worst.... don't ever buy kaplan. Kaplan is stupid, it will destruct you!!!.. it shows you a very differeng SAT !!! stupid kaplan why they named themselves as a book to keep their score higher

The joe bloggs strategy isn't a personal favorite of mine either, but it can be overlooked if the reader desires...

What distinguishes McGraw Hill from everything else?

I definitely agree with Levin about Kaplan. I'm planning on getting the blue book for the summer.

Barrons for sure-------Barrons on every subject, math, reading comp...etc.

I heard that Grammatix and Rocket Review Revolution are all you need to raise your SAT score 2100+.

Grammatix and Rocket Review Revolution....Hahahah, don't fall for them. They are pieces of crap. Only use them if you want your score to go down.

The 10 new sats/1 psat book from princeton review is good, that book has explanations at the end of each test too so it was Very helpful

collegeboard's blue book was really helpful too :) the only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't have explanations to the questions, but that isn't too hard to find, you could look/post here if you don't understand anything :)

I tried the Kaplan books and just like you I thought they were completely retarded, their answer key was completely wrong sometimes, like sometimes the answer was CLEARLY 3 but the key said it was 5

a lot of people said their scores went up from using rocket review and grammatix.

Okay, so tell me what is so good about those books that Barrons or PR doesn't have? Don't tell me you have to buy the book inorder to know, because we all know that it is just a marketing ploy.

Peterson's for the critical reading is good because they only have practice quizzes so you get alot of practice with that book

Is practicing the best thing to do to raise one's CR score? I have only PR for SAT, and am stuck at 650. Any advice?
