This year, I'll be taking honors Chem and I was thinking of taking the chemistry SAT exam. What is the best book to use? THANKS!

I used Barron’s and got an 800 on my second try (770 or a 780 (don’t remember) first try).

Any other books?

5 Steps to a Five for Chem was very helpful on the actual exam and the SAT II!
780! Doing the practice problems did a world of good for me.
[Amazon.com: 5 Steps to a 5 AP Chemistry, 2008-2009 Edition (5 Steps to a 5 on the Advanced…](http://www.amazon.com/Chemistry-2008-2009-Advanced-Placement-Examinations/dp/0071488553)

PR is a good review, though Barron’s is better.

How about Kaplan? I’ve had it on my shelf for a while with the expectation of taking SAT Chemistry in June 2010, but ended up only taking other tests, and now would like to take SAT Chemistry in October.

No, no, no, no… What are you saying! Barron’s is way too redundant and has way too much unnecessary information… Reading through the paragraphs was truly a pain. Kaplan/PR/5 steps to a 5 are better review books than Barron’s.

I’ll be taking honors chem this year as well and was wondering if I should take SAT II chem or AP chem exam or both? I’m planning to take both since usually the materials on both test are somewhat similar, but what do you guys think?

Definitely take SAT II chem and if your honors class is pretty advanced, then you might be able to take AP chem exam, although it’ll definitely require some self-studying.

What sucks is my school offers only 5 AP classes total. For my junior yr this yr I’m only taking 1 and the rest are honors and senior yr I’ll be taking 3 and the rest honors. I really wanna take as much AP exams as possible as well as SAT II.

Kaplan is kind of confusing… PR is easy to read and straight-foward (took me from 670-770)
