Best SAT Prep book for Critical Reading - Passage Based Questions ?

I'm thinking about buying Erica Meltzer's Critical Reader since her Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar was so darn good (i went from 490 to 750-790 on a practice test within 10 days).

I already have Direct Hits Vol. 1 and 2, but I'm struggling more with passaged based questions since apparently, I'm a good guesser (for every other practice test) for the sentence completion questions with vocab I haven't learned yet

So far I've read the BB guide for CR and took 4 practice tests with no improvement. I am getting Gruber's complete guide in the mail and I currently have and may start reading Barron's CR Workbook, but some say the tests are bad but the skills are good.

bump

Maximum SAT by Pete Edwards is almost a decade old but good. Black Book by Mike Barrett is recent but adapted from Grammatix. Both are inexpensive.

Are those the books you used to get a 2400 on the SAT?

I bought The Critical Reader and it’s a pretty good book, but before buying a book I would recommend noitaraperp’s guide. It is getting me in the high 700’s right now and hopefully with a little practice, an 800 soon.

btw, I have the black book, it’s not worth it. Really general and doesn’t really help

@thebossofbosses I guess I’ll get the Critical Reader. Free 2 day shipping on eBay which is great since I need this book ASAP since Summer is almost over. Studying for CR will be tough with my 4AP, 1 honors, 1 regular class schedule

@henrytheunicorn‌ lol I have the exact same schedule. It’s gonna be a tough year.

@thebossofbosses Lol. May the force be with us. Good thing I’m asian. Dunno about you tho :P
