Hey everyone =)
I plan on minoring saxophone performance (classical or jazz, not sure yet) in college, and from what I've heard, it's important to pick a school with a great program for your instrument. Can anyone recommend colleges (or conservatories) with either excellent saxophone teachers or excellent saxophone programs?
Thanks so much!!

My son is a second year jazz sax performance major at U Michigan and very happy with his teacher and the performance opportunities he has had. During his college visit and audition experience he was very impressed with the quality of sax teaching at U Miami. A friend of his who is a suberb sax player is at Manhattan School of Music. University of North Texas is excellent for jazz, but he did not apply there.

Ken Radnofsky is an amazing performer and teacher. He currently teaches at NEC, Longy, BoCo, and BU.

Curtis School of Music as well as Oberlin's Conservatory can point you in the right direction if you do not want to major in music.

Odyssey Tigger, whie I agree with your premise about disseminating additional (and quite valid) information, the way you've formatted the post is quite probably a violation of CC's TOS.

Specifically, the administration has requested that there be no links to other forums, blogs. There are numerous instrument specific forums on the web, and a number of them are the go to sites for the serious or neophyte player.

It's quite possible the mods may delete or edit your post. A mention of the appropriate forum with no link would serve the same purpose. Seems the administrators have no problem with a site reference in this forum as long as you don't link directly.

You might request directly that a mod edit your post, while maintaining the reference to the sax forum without the specific links.

Just a word of friendly advice, nothing more. The mods pretty much let this forum operate without interference or undue censorship, and it tends to be "self policing" unless there is a specific recurring issue.

^
It seems to me that the SOP here (including by at least some of the MODs) is to link (including to the MIT admissions blog) rather than repost reams of information. The Terms of Service context you refer to above is "non authoritative site". I believe my post complies with the TOS.

"Specifically" - when I don't post, CC solicits me with welcoming request to please post and help someone out if I can. If I bother to do that and they delete the post? Not exactly a coherent behavior pattern.

Unfortunately, it is also SOP for many posters to simply find a forum and post their question rather than spend the time exploring said forum to see if there already exists discussion or discussions on that very same topic.

Moreover, the SOTWF is not the easiest thing in the world to navigate when trying to find specific information. It took me a fair bit of time to find the threads I linked to (most of which are directly on point to the OP's question and span several years of answers) - and I knew they were there. That was WHY I linked to them. Thus I do not believe the same purpose would be served without the links.

^Your points are cogent and valid, and I am in agreement with them. I was simply stating the norms that I've seen applied in this section of CC. From your past posts, you are not a frequent poster to this forum, and my comments were meant as a caveat in the event you were unaware or uninformed. No other message was inferred or intended by my comments.

Mea culpa.
