What are the best 1st semester courses to take for Pre-Biz majors?

Also, I plan on taking Calculus in a community college during summer; is this a wise move or should I instead focus on my internship and take Calculus at Cal?

econ 1, english r1a (if you dont have it), calc 1 series or 16 series, breadth

i took econ 1, german r5a, calc 16b and nutrisci 10.. got a 4.0

now im interning, coaching swimming, swimming, taking comp sci online..

u can do it all if u really want

i would suggest taking computer science over the summer at a community college or online and take calculus at cal

Now what is the difference between 1 and 16a calc? I believe 16a is easier, but how so? Also, does Haas recommend a calc 1 course over 16a?

the difference is that 1 series is for engineering/math majors while 16 is for the rest of the student body, or so i've been told. Haas does not judge whether you take either one. They just want you to take calc for 1 semester and preferably at Cal. I read this somewhere in the Haas website. I cannot remember where, though.

where you from 66afghans, are you an incoming freshman?

Sorry for the late reply, but yeah I'm an incoming freshman. I'm just worried about which classes to choose with my 10.5 units at CalSO; I want to avoid a bumpy first year.

can you choose which one to take... like if i want to take 16a and not 1

i took AP calc but not the AP test so i wont have any credits.. .can i just go straight to 16a?

series 1 is much harder than series 16. If you did well in AP Calc BC then series 1 is a better choice. If you don't feel like you're strong enough, then take series 16. It depends on your backup major's choice.
