best school for a math major?

name like the top 10 schools or so plz, in descending order.

MIT/Caltech/Harvard/Princeton

Stanford/Berkeley

the rest :)

Math, aye? I say..IIT, Kyoto, Oxford, La Sorbonne

Princeton

hmmm, let's see a person with Princeton IN his username is suggesting Princeton as #1 for math. Possible bias?....nah.

MIT governs!

MIT / Caltech?

It seems like all of the top math students go to Harvard for some reason...

For pure math, Harvard and Princeton are probably the top schools...

At Harvard, there's a freshman course called Math 55. Basically, you take all the IMO kids, stick them in a room, and give them problems to do... after Math 55, they go on to graduate-level math.

MIT
Harvard/Princeton/Stanford/Berkeley
U of Chicago
yale
Caltech
U Michigan
cornell
NYU/UCLA

According to US News

The University of Cambridge.

Well the IMO kids should noe best.

Gabriel Caroll the IMO full mark producer studies in Harvard
Tien Kai Liu, 4 time IMO golds since 9th grade studies in Harvard

Math 55 must be pretty appealing. Like alot of you, I expected Caltech or MIT to be their top choice but I guess not. I mite havae spelt their names wrong and plz excuse me.

mit,uc davis,yale,amherst

i heard university of florida.

hands down

harvard- math 55

but then again this is not just for people who are good at math... or even excellent

its for flat out prodigies... or so i hear

Tien Kai Liu - haha - I went to middle school with him. i believe it was tian kai, but i could be wrong. cool to know that i competed in the same math competitions as someone so elite .. math nerds unite.

math55. area 51. connections? lol.

Actually, I think Tiankai Liu only won 3 IMO Gold Medals. He didn't participate in the IMO his junior year to go to RSI instead.

wow all this math stuff cool, i wish i was as good in math as you guys

ah yes. thnx for correcting me sleepisoptional. ya; he did go to RSI. but I dont think he did much about his research. Caroll on the other hand did this amazing set theory research which came 3rd place intel i think. u can check it out on his website!
