Best school for an aspiring HS English teacher

Check if any of the schools on your currently list have any accelerated, or dual degree BA/MAT program, which is typically completed in 5-years.
As empireapple mentioned, the added year to obtain the master’s will give you more choices and better employment prospects. Since you think that you’ll be coming back to the US at some point, specific state certification is simpler when there’s a master’s involved. Remember that teachers are typically paid on a scale based upon the amount of education coupled years of experience.

In addition to privates, such as Quinnipiac and Drew, there are also a few state schools that combine the BA with a teaching certificate, including James Madison in VA.: https://jmu.edu/coe/academics.shtml

I don’t know if you’re a female or not, but Simmons (in the heart of Boston) offers these types of programs and has generous merit aid.

Students at Clark U in MA get their 5th-year tuition-free:

I’m sure since it’s your home state you’re already familiar with the U Minn-TC minor in ESL/TESL program, so it seems you have a great in-state option.

The other good teaching uni’s in MN are U Minn-Morris

Good luck.

Adding to the post above - Clark U is generous with merit aid. James Madison doesn’t offer much in the way of OOS merit; however, it is relatively “affordable” - our oldest daughter attended and we paid only 5-6k more per year than our state flagship (UMASS).
