My daughter wants to major in fashion merchandising and is looking at South Carolina, UGA, Alabama and Auburn. Any feedback on which school has the best program and help with securing internships?

Try these sites. Auburn has a great program that is ranked nationally. Their degree has two options: Apparel Merchandising option and Apparel Design/Production Management option. Auburn also does a one-week summer session for high schoolers (see link below). I keep up on the program as I have a daughter in 11th grade who has planned on attending Auburn for this degree since she started high school. We have called the University numerous times and they are more than willing to tell you everything about the degrees and they will schedule a personal tour if you ask. They also offered to have her sit in on a few classes one day. Call them and ask for an information packet. Auburn is ranked #20 nationally for Fashion Design and #7 in fashion Merchandising.

I am not a Apparel Design or Fashion Merchandising major but I have three or four friends who are. The program is incredible. They get tons of hands-on experience (they put on a fashion show every year that they design for and produce) and they get amazing internships. One of my friends ever interned for Alexander Wang in NYC after he graduated! They keep a list of where everyone has done an internship and their contact information so, if you’re interested in a company an Auburn student has interned at before, they can help hook you up. Auburn is also just a great school to be at. It wasn’t my first choice (Auburn gave me a much bigger scholarship than my first choice) but I am incredibly thankful that I came to Auburn instead
