Best schools for Computer Science in Georgia (after GTech)?

I am a rising senior in Georgia looking to possibly major in Computer Science. I don't have the test scores or the grades to get into Georgia Tech, the obvious CS choice here in Georgia (3.7 uw, 1650 SAT), neither do I have good enough scores/grades for UGA, the second most obvious choice.

I was just curious if any of you had opinions on other college's CS programs in Georgia. Such as,

Georgia Southern
Georgia State
KSU
GCSU
UWG
UNG

I'm not looking for prestigious, well known, or any of that junk, but a solid program with decent job prospect after college that will teach me everything I need to know about CS. Also, do any of them hold decent career fairs?

Would it just be better to go out-of-state? Are there any schools in the South-east with a decent CS program?
( Again not "prestigious" just a decent program)

Take a look at the course catalogs and schedules for each school. Look for advanced CS courses in the following areas offered at reasonable frequency:

algorithms and complexity
theory of computation
operating systems
networks
databases
compilers
software engineering or project course or projects in other courses
digital systems
computer architecture
electives like artificial intelligence, graphics, computational biology, etc.

Georgia Southern and/or Georgia State will be your best choices after Tech. After that it would probably be GCSU.

Are you not interested in UGA at all? Because after Tech I would say UGA is probably your best in-state choice, before Southern and State.

^I agree with that.
Also, have you thought about private colleges with decent CS programs throughout the South?
Is that SAT score your first attempt? If you haven’t taken it three times already, study (use prep books from the library, a tutor, a prep class, number2.com, whatever you need) and retake. Also, some people do better on the ACT so you may want to try that one (princeton review has a free practice test online).
What’s your parents’ budget?

Yes I’m interested in uga, but I understand that it is difficult to be admitted and I want to aim realistically.

Yes that was my first SAT attept. I can’t afford a tutor but I can afford books. I signed up for the ACT June 14. However, I am not very confident about it because of particular low English scores I keep getting on English ACT practice tests 20> It.seems to correlate with my low SAT writing score 490. I’m studying for the part intensely but it seems to do no good. Also I fear I maybe neglecting my math score too much.

I plan to retake either the SAT or the ACT senior year - whichever one I do better on!

If I can get fnancial at a private college and I like it I’d gladly go, my parents don’t have a high budget, they seriously want me to get the hope and/or the Zell Miller
