Specifically into three tiers: 50%-30%, 30%-15%, and <15%.
I also am looking for affordability (I’m low-income) which doesn’t seem like too much of a problem for the top schools though, there definitely is no guarantee I’ll get into one of those. It’s the match schools that I have trouble dealing with…
.
What are your stats?
Currently a junior…
-SAT: 1360 (R&W: 640 Math: 720). I plan to take it again in June.
-Took the ACT sometime in February but I didn’t get my score yet. I didn’t sign up online (school signed up for me; in state that requires all kids to the take ACT), so I don’t think I can view my score online (if my test was even score yet).
-Weighted GPA: 4.2
-Unweighted: 3.8 (I think)
-AP Classes Junior year - AP Chem, APUSH, AP lang (sadly AP Physics wasn’t offered this yr)
-Planned AP classes for Senior yr - AP Physics 1, AP lit, AP Calc A/B, AP World, and maybe AP Econ as well.
I think you need to hike up your test scores to have a good shot at schools that meet need.
Are you male or female? Have you run net price calculators at any schools?
One school you might look at is Dickinson. They meet need for something like 99% of students now, but fly a bit under the radar because everyone is focused on the “meets need” schools. They are not need blind for admissions, but I’d say you have a decent shot there.
I would agree that my test scores are too low. Hopefully I can hike it up…
I’m a male student with southeast asian descent. My two older brothers actually went to college (so I’m not going to be the 1st in my family to go to college), though they went to a state college that has okay-ish financial aid. I have not yet run any net price calculators.
If they aren’t need blind, wouldn’t that help me get in?
