Best schools in the mid-west?

Good school, yes. Good for pre-med? Debatable.

Cue7 wrote an excellent thread about that very topic.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-chicago/674547-maximizing-med-school-acceptance-success-chicago.html

I wasn’t aware it was possible to have too many options.

Furthermore, I think it just might be a good idea to have some safeties and matches as well. Perhaps that’s just me…

^U of Chicago is probably good for anything, but not necessarily great.

i am from michigan and generally the people that go there aren’t that smart. it is just another state school and is only decent for pre-med since they have a med school (well, i am 90% sure they do). they have an 80% acceptance rate and a average of 20 on the act. i am not saying it is horrible, but it hardly deserves to be considered for any best in the midwest list

Before you get savagely attacked by other Chicago promoters, I’ll explain that you’re confusing two very different universities.

[University of Chicago - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](University of Chicago - Wikipedia)

[University of Illinois at Chicago - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](University of Illinois Chicago - Wikipedia)

^^^ This kind of confusion is exactly University of Chicago’s biggest problem!

What Chicago, Penn, Rochester, etc. has taught us is that one should never, ever name a private school after a location…

haha, true that! U of Illinois at Chicago is a really sucky school.

^^^i meant U of Chicago, not UIC. what i meant by not necessarily great but good, is not necessarily the best but great. when i said just good it was in comparison to the best schools for specific things like pre-med. chicago is probably the best in some things, but not the best overall, although it is a top school.

Golly, that’s quite a mature comment, Yuechen.

LakeWashington, I’m ashamed of my comment as it is, and you couldn’t let it go. I guess what I meant was that it could definitely be better, compared with the more prestigious University of Chicago, also located in Chicago, Illinois.
