i graduated in 2003 with probably the worst high school records on cc, and i was wondering what are the best schools that don't really require them or look at them. the only i know of are the UC's. are there any others?

i will be a junior transfer with over 60 credits when i apply, and people always say it's not considered AS MUCH, but it's still considered.

You need to research schools that offer your major and then narrow the list down according to who does and doesn't consider hs grades. You can find that information at USNEWS and I am sure a million other places.

My HS GPA was probably worse than yours, forgiven, but I was admitted at both Rice and UChicago this year. I was admitted at Georgetown last year. The HS GPA counts much less as a junior transfer.

I had a 1.65 GPA and I dropped out. But that was over 10 years ago. I was just admitted to Northwestern and waitlisted at UChicago.

edit:

Oh and don't worry so much if they require them or not. If you are doing much better in college and can explain the difference between the "high school you" and the "college you" in your essays, the HS transcript will be seen but may not hinder you too much.

nspeds, my HS gpa is SLIGHTLY better than yours. 2.43 -_-
but you have decent SAT scores to actually prove to colleges that you're not a dumbass. your 1490 and 1280 tower over my 980 (450V 530M). yeaaaaah... :T

i studied a total of 1 hour during all of high school for the SATs. i'm thinking about taking it again, but i don't know if i should because of the whole new writing section, and the last time i took it was in 2002. what do you guys think?

it's called transfer admissions. nspeds probably had amazing college recs to make up for it and his essays and recommendations were probably top-notch as well.

anyways.. this is how my college admissions career has gone so far..

i'll be at rutgers- new brunswick this fall, since i'm from NJ and it'll be the cheapest. i don't think any of the other schools i got admitted to are worth the money. i might just stay at rutgers for the rest of my undergraduate career and hopefully graduate with honors, i don't know.
