Best schools that give the most merit based aid

Mariska-I know Duke gives a handful of international students scholarships each year. It's an extremely tiny percent of the applicant pool, but worth a shot. If you're from New Zealand, your chances are a bit better, because one of the Robertson Scholarships is reserved for a Kiwi (as is one at UNC).

eh!

My daughter is applying half of the schools that your daughter got scholarship. Our EFC is too high for her to get any need based aid. Do you mind share some info with me on whether she shall simply give up applying for need based aid?

Thanks

To some of the questions posted here, would suggest also to check out the following sources of info:

Silverlady, my son has applied to St. Louis' Medical Scholar Program this year. He will write the Presidential Scholarship essay shortly. His SAT scores is 1490 (Reading 770, Math 720). Do you mind telling me your daughter's scores? I want to have a feel of my son's chances of being admitted and awarded with the scholarship.
Thanks.

eagermom, I applied for the med scholars program too... and I'm starting and finishing my pres. scholarhsip essay right now (oops... a little last minute..) your son's stats seem competetive for the scholarship. they give out 30 every year, so from his sat scores, i'd say his chances are fair to good. good luck!

USC!

they give 100 full tuitions out each each, and 200 half-tuitions, in adition to countless other tuition packages!

Lafayette college will gives you merit based scholarships quite a load of them

UNC has scholarships besides the aforementioned Morehead and Robertson's that are also full rides for OOS students, I believe. I think Carolina Scholars is one of them.

duke gives scholarships too

For those of you interested in NYC as a college setting, CUNY's Hunter College has a wonderful honors scholarship package. From their website:

[quote]
Students in the Honors College receive a University Scholarship, which provides the following: tuition for four years; a dorm room; a laptop computer; a $7500 study grant, which can be used to study abroad or subsidize unpaid internships; a Cultural Passport that provides free or reduced entry to hundreds of New York City cultural institutions; and priority registration each semester.

Definitely looks into CUNY Honors College Program.

The program is not only at CUNY Hunter; the rest are Baruch College; Brooklyn College; City College; The College of Staten Island; Lehman College; and Queens College.

If admitted, it is free ride and you get a laptop, grant and all the other nice perks.

Brandeis University

Justice Brandeis Scholarship - 4 years, full tuition, merit based, 50-60/yr
Martin Luther King Scholarship - 4 year full ride, merit and need based
Several other "one offs"

UNC UNC UNC!!!!!!

If you are an outstanding applicant, chances are very good and plenty to snag a full ride.

I LOVE UNC MERIT AID!!! it saved my lifeeeeeeeee

(I'm a Pogue Scholar...Class of 2011!!!)

Congratulations GetouttaBuffalo! That's quite an achievement. I went to their website to research selection criteria and I had to laugh when I read this:

"demonstrate an abiding commitment to their local communities"

Heh, now that's ironic. (not picking on you, just that you were so passionate about getting out of Buffalo) I'm sure you'll seize the daylights out of this opportunity, good luck to you!

LOL! Yeah, that's really funny! Best of luck though!

Haha, MomOfFour...you're right...I did wanna get out. But I showed Buffalo as much love as I could while I was there...now it's time for Chapel Hill!!!
