Best Schools?

That was a very comprehensive analysis.

does anyone know anything about unc (Kenan-Flagler)? what is it well known for (if at all)? how is its recruiting? etc.
-thanks

How is Purdue Krannert for Operations Research?

Wow, bern, your exposure to elite business institutions as a freshman is pretty damn impressive. I'm sure you and most of your classmates will get recruited to lucrative positions at great firms.

What about the other aspects (and there are many) of your comprehensive college experience at Wharton? How are the parties? The girls? The intellectual life? Are the curves really as cutthroat as some people have said? How do you all mix with the other Penn kids?

hey undecided, just my 2 cents:

get into the BEST university you can. if you want to go into investment banking or management consulting as an undergrad, having a business backround doesn't help that much (i turned down columbia for stern and am kicking myself in the ass for it). HTH

feel free to email me if you have any questions: byt200@nyu.edu

Why? Stern and Columbia are viewed the same by everyone in terms of regard/prestige/academics; the only difference is Columbia has grade inflation and Stern has huge deflation. You'll be fine either way. I'm assuming you are a freshman-trust me, as an alumni, I can assure you you'll have many doors opened to you that students at almost every other school won't have.

mike d: The parties are awesome! Penn does have the reputation for being the party ivy...I think the social life at penn really balances the academics. I know that at some schools, like Harvard, the social life really is very depressing. There are some very beautiful women at penn; however, many are very high maintenance, the really hot ones always tend to be pretty JAPpy. One of the things I enjoy about penn is the intellectual feel of the school. You are surrounded by some of the most intelligent people and you'll end up having many intellectual discussions not only in class. The curves are pretty cutthroat in some classes but in general they aren't too bad, the wharton curve is just an exageration. If this helps, the average GPA at wharton is 3.2. In general the education at wharton is really well rounded. The curriculum is structured in a way that you study every aspect of business (acct, fnce, mngt, bpub, lgst, mktg, etc.) in depth. The professors are amazing, the students are really driven and it's really an amazing feeling to be part of something so impressive. Wharton students and students from the other UG schools at penn live together, eat together, party together, etc. You'll have nursing, engineering, and college kids in wharton classes and you'll see wharton students in classes at each of the schools. Penn has a one university policy, unlike Gtown, so if you want to take classes, minor, or dual degree in any of the other schools you can.
I would chose wharton over any other undergrad business schools out there. I know many people who took full scholarships at other schools (WUSTL, USC, BC, NYU, and ND) who also got into wharton and regret going to these schools. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

how would you say the dating scene is for us females? Also, I know UPENN seems to be party school but how involved are drugs? thanks!

You can delude yourself all you want, but NO ONE puts Columbia and NYU on the same level. Look, NYU is a fine school, as is Boston College, Tufts, etc., but it's not top tier. Just accept it and get past it.

well columbia doesnt have ug business which is what theyre talking about so...

He didn't say it with that qualifier. He siad "Stern and Columbia are viewed the same by everyone in terms of regard/prestige/academics." That is 100% false.

Wrong. One, the average SAT at Stern is higher than Columbia. Two, the average gpa is as well. Check out princeton review college reports. In addition, almost every employer I met said they were more impressed by Stern than Columbia. I said Stern, not the rest of NYU

I would agree with nyusternman

no stunt, the only thing NYU has over columbia is a business school, kids who are in stern can't hold a candle to columbia kids, for goodness sakes, the school overall is ranked 35th, and in the business school category NYU is 5th, behind two public schools and a tech school, but then of course there is always penn #1.

wharton owns all in business

period.

keep telling yourself that

haha samson, no one can top the Penn Wharton Jews!

the stats at stern and wharton have no difference at all

your fing retarded dude, wharton owns everyone in the face ten times over
