I've applied to four schools -- three of which are SEC schools. I've always liked the SEC school culture. Football, fraternities, drinking, good female-male ratios.

The SEC schools I've applied to are Alabama, Auburn, and UGA. I was lucky enough to get in UGA early action as an OOS student (I live in Alabama -- go figure!)

I think I have a good chance of getting into Alabama and Auburn, but my question is, which one is the best school? I've already seen the USNWR rankings and UGA is much higher than the other two; but, I've visited their campuses, and I could see myself happy at any of them.

Auburn is better!! (says the Auburn student)

Honestly, for me, I just think Auburn is better because of two things:
1)The Greeks don't dominate EVERYTHING at Auburn. You don't HAVE to be in a frat/sorority to have a social life, or be involved on campus. Greeks and independents basically get along. From what I've seen, they're practically required at Alabama. One of my professors has taught at Alabama before he taught here and he said that Auburn as a group of students is less stuck-up and snobby than Bama students. Take that for what you will.
2) 6 in a row!!!! ;)

The academics are roughly even, basically, in terms of difficulty and things required of you. I don't know what Bama's strong programs are, but at Auburn, we have a very good engineering college, excellent architecture and industrial design programs, and pretty decent business school. Liberal arts is sadly underfunded and overcrowded, but I've had some great teachers/classes in there as well (and my major's in Liberal arts too).

Auburn as a town, I find to be better than Tuscaloosa just because it's less ghetto, to put it bluntly (we have Opelika for that). Tuscaloosa just seems kinda gross to me, but I've only been there once. It is bigger than Auburn, so might have more to do, but I think Auburn is probably safer. I've never had a problem finding something to do in Auburn, but that's me.

Hope this helped a little bit! If you have any questions specifically about the admissions process or anything, I'm happy to help because I work in the admissions department and call people just for that reason.
