hey @physicsfreak - is that solely an FSU perk, the OOS waiver for a certain level of stats? I would love to get my kid into UF (we are in PA, and even OOS Florida tuition is cheaper than in-state PSU ) â I donât think I have a legacy hook, despite going there, because I didnât graduate. Ugh.
tia!
@gatormama - Sorry, I donât know anything about UF. If youâre looking for merit aid I think University of Central Florida is more generous than many of the other publics in Florida.
@citymama9 is it? Idk, I just thought NC State was better due to it being, historically, part of NCâs big four
@Gatormama Post UF three times in a thread, and I magically appearâŠ
UF doesnât offer standard OOS tuition waivers, unlike FSU. They do offer a limited number of OOS merit scholarships, which are really discounts off the OOS tuition ($28K a year). The three levels of OOS scholarships are $8K (Alumni), $12K (Sunshine) and $20K (Gator Nation) a year. (You donât need to be an alumni for these scholarships, despite the first one being called âAlumniâ).
You may find the 2016 admissions report interesting:

Last year, they gave out 52 Alumni, 47 Sunshine and 38 Gator Nation scholarships. The Sunshine actually brings UFâs cost closer to your ridiculous PSU in-state rates.
UCF and USF offer substantial OOS scholarships, so they may be worth taking a look atâŠ
Thank you, @Gator88NE and chomp chomp to you on Christmas Day!
@LBad96 I was just wondering, because Davidson is ranked #9 in the US News rankings for LACs. I heard NC State is good, but donât know anything about it.
