Best sports school?

Salisbury is a fine school and its lacrosse teams have been at or near the top for at least the last 5 to 7 years, as fif said. I don’t have its record for the last ten years at hand, but here is Deerfield’s:

Since 2000 - 161 wins, 14 losses – 2 undefeated years; 7 championships (sole and shared)

versus Salisbury:

'01 - W 7-3
'02 - W 10-8
'03 - W 13-7
'04 - L 10-12 (only loss)
'05 - W 8-7 (2OT)
'06 - L 6-8
'07 - W 10-6
'08 - W 12-6
'09 - L 6-7 (only loss)
'10 - L 6-9 (only loss)

Deerfield holds a slight edge, 6 - 4. Let’s see what the next ten years brings…

By no means would I claim Cate to be the best sports school, but it is certainly “sporty” and offers, in addition to normal team sports, several non-traditional sports options for its students such as yoga, surfing, outdoor / rock climbing, ultimate frisbee, dance, etc.

It’s notable that yesterday the boys soccer team improved to a 16-0 record on the season. They’ve outscored their opponents by a margin of 94 to 5 this season and are ranked 1 in California and are also ranked nationally in the ESPN Top 50.

Here’s a link to local Santa Barbara sports video coverage of yesterday’s game.

Avon has the best overall sports teams period. Choate also has a very very good hockey program. Berkshire has the best sports/ hockey facility out of any prep school.

Deerhotch

  1. Not even close.
    2)true, but NO championships.
  2. Not even close (within 40 miles, Salisbury, Hotchkiss and Taft have better
overall facilities). Berkshire’s twin rinks are great but that’s all it really is, two rinks

are you honestly serious? do you know how many new england championships avon has won for hockey? they have the number one ranked team in NE prep and their lax teams are nasty

deerhotch -

“sigh”

Yep, AOF has a great hockey tradition, as fif recognized above. They are not currently ranked #1 by USHR (Milton). You said " best overall sports teams period". Avon has a very good lacrosse program but has never won West 1 (Deerfield has 6-7, Salisbury 5, Taft a couple, Hotchkiss a couple, T-P one). Avon has never won a New England championship in football (Salisbury has 5, including this years A game, Deerfield has several, T-P two or three, etc.). Soccer is above average, 'tho they did win a Class A championship a couple of years ago. Basketball is average. Tennis average. Squash poor. Wrestling pretty good. They always have a very good baseball team. No rowing. Don’t know about track.
