Best study book for AP Spanish Language? I need to start studying!

I'm pretty much skipping Spanish 3 and going straight to AP Spanish (taking Spanish 102 over summer to get to AP Spanish), so I'm afraid of getting killed in AP Spanish.

Thus, I'm going to begin studying ASAP. I think if I do all my homework, participate, study, do well on projects, etc., then I'll be able to pull off A's and at least a 3 on the AP test.

So, what's the best book to study off of?

And do you guys have any other tips on improving Spanish? My friend recommends that I start watching Spanish TV (telemundo). Also, I have some Spanish flashcards that my sister made when she was in high school, so I think I'll start studying those as well.

well, i'll be taking AP Spanish in the fall and we use a book called "Breaking the Barrier: Spanish" or something like that. I have only flipped through it, but it looks pretty good.

as for other tips, I would definitely watch some telemundo...plus, that's fun to do anyways. Also, practice speaking in spanish, maybe to friends that also take spanish? If not, it sounds weird, but try talking to yourself in spanish....or pets. I talk to my dog in spanish all the time, just because!

i don't remember what book we used, but my teacher tried to make us speak Spanish constantly. however, i never spoke spanish, or at least very rarely. near the end of the class (towards exam time), we practiced using the tape recorders to do picture sequences. however, pic sequences won't be on the test next year. it's more reading and listening and speaking about what you read and heard.

however, i do think it is a good idea to watch spanish tv. even if you don't understand all of it, you are still picking some up while getting used to different accents.

and of course, like my teacher said, you must think in spanish until you speak in spanish.

btw, i got a 5 and i'm not a native speaker. i just started learning spanish in high school. i loved grammar and writing and didn't really like speaking. (and i'm going to princeton next year) pm me if you need more advice ;)
