Best Summer Internships

What are considered some of the best companies to have a summer internship with for a Mechanical Engineer?

Well that depends on what are of Mechanical Engineering you are focusing on and your eventual job goals.

A similar question would e what are considered to be some of the best flavors of ice cream. You just can’t really answer it without more narrow criteria.

10 chars…never mind.

Boeing is a good place to have a summer internship.

only ~7 are accepted out of several hundred applicants:
[Blue Origin - Internships](http://blueorigin.com/internships.htm)

Didn’t you used to be very secretive about mentioning that company?

I clearly remember him being upset when I mentioned he worked for Blue Origins. I guess it’s fair game now.

thanks…any more?

ugh, sorry guys.
i tried to post a link to the website but CC automatically fetches the title from the URL.
FAIL!

…but i could just be some random guy telling you that blue has a great internship program!

Generally I think upstream divisions of oil companies have robust internship programs. They’ve been scaled way back recently but they’re good if you can get them.

Downstream companies have good internship programs, as well.

To me, though, what you can do at the internship is just as important as the company. Having a comment on your resume that you redesigned a process and saved $X million per year is impressive. Just showing up and proofreading some manuals isn’t.

General Electric?

Has anyone heard about the NASA GSFC internship? the acceptance letters were supposed to come out in early march but a few days ago it was switch to early APRIL. :frowning: WOndering my shots of getting in

Boeing would be a great place. The only reason I am not with Boeing now is that it is very hard for companies (even big ones like Boeing) to “break in” as far as contracting for the “Fort Meaders” of the No Such Agency.

Everywhere else?..Boeing is pretty darn good.
