Best SUNY campus?

which SUNY campus do you consider the nicest?
I'm planning on applying next year to Binghamton, Stony Brook, Geneseo, Fredonia, and Buffalo...

i think it depends on what major you'll take

i hate the binghamton campus haha. It's just like nowhere I would want to go to.

Stony Brook used to be an ugly sea of mud. The current president has really beautified it, and I would now call it a beautiful campus. The central mall has benches and street lights that make it look like Paris. The Arts Center has a new, small outdoor amphitheater and there is a lovely water feature as well.

Buffalo...

haha I actually like the Binghamton campus...that's just me though.
Thanks for your well put response mythmom, I'm planning on visiting Stony Brook soon.
Any reason why Buffalo's campus stands out to you collegehelp?

Geneseo has a really nice campus and it's a great school (mostly a liberal arts school) but it's soo tough to get into now.

We toured & visited the north campus of SUNY Buffalo for 7 hours. Walked all over. They have done many renovations. New football stadium, new pathways, huge pool. Business school was very modern. They are planning on building a new engineering building. They are trying to expand the entire university. Didn't see the south campus.

I'm a freshman at Stony Brook, and it's a mix of good and bad. Most of the buildings are typical 1960's architecture; big and ugly. The campus itself is nice and like mythmom said they're putting a lot of work into the campus now, there is a brand new arts center, nice walkways and some new lecture halls that are quite nice. Theres also a train station on campus that runs right to Penn Station, which is a popular option for students who want to visit the city on the weekends. However, Stony Brook is a big commuter school and a large chunk of students go home on the weekends. The weekends are often pretty dead here, but of course regardless of where you are, your college experience is what you make of it.

Binghamton never impressed me. Some people will argue its a nicer campus than Stony Brook's; however the architecture, walkways, and scenery are all fairly similar. Binghamton's campus is slightly smaller than Stony Brook's main campus (sb has 2 campuses) so it depends what you're looking for.

Buffalo is massive, and I've only seen one campus (not sure which one). However it seemed the majority of the buildings were new and the weather was great (i visited during the summer). However I'm sure you're aware the winters there are horrible, so if you can deal with blistering cold and 5 ft of snow for 6 months then you should check it out.

I haven't visited Fredonia so I'm not sure what it's like. I hear it's small and cold...

Geneseo is my favorite of the bunch and I'm starting classes there in January for the spring semester. I hear they're in the process of renovating an underutilized building as well as several dorms. Geneseo has that small liberal arts college feel that you won't find on most SUNY campuses, with its ivy covered buildings and small town atmosphere. The village of Geneseo is a 2 minute walk from campus, and theres plenty to do in the town as well as on campus.

As I have just finished the long and tedious college process I understand how difficult it can be. I hope this helps you with your college decision, and i wish you luck with your apps.

Oswego !!!

Lots of outdoor art placed around the SUNY Plattsburgh campus.

Why Oswego grantortue?

I've just heard terrible things about Oswego haha...

I visited Oneonta a few weekends ago and the campus actually is very nice! I was really impressed by how nice it looked. The surrounding area is dull though. I asked the tour guide what type of off-campus activities there are to do and all he said was that "there is a Wal-Mart close by."

haha that's a shame
A lot of people from my school go to Oneonta

Any other opinions?

Interesting SUNY Buffalo fact-

The North Campus (modern campus) was designed in the 60/70s to have no traditional central quads for students to gather in and protest! Personally, I dislike the SUNY Buffalo campus and find its modern architecture jarring- has anyone seen the new dorms, they look like oompa-loompa houses!

I also hated Geneso, there is nothing in the town! It was one street!

Oswego is a really nice campus, but not a really nice school.

Geneseo is a pristine campus, and an amazing school, but its on the side of a HUGE hill, and that kinda sucks.

Thanks for the fact
Is there any SUNY you DO like, davnasca?

Is the hill really that bothersome BigEast55?lol

SUNY Potsdam is the oldest college in the SUNY system and is known for it's education, math, computer science and performing arts departments.

SUNY Oswego does have one of the nicest campuses in the system. It is best observed, however, from May through October. During much of the school year it is buried in snow, or at the very least obscured by persistent snow "squalls," which frequently create "white out" conditions. For example, take a look at the campus webcam:
