if anybody could give me any feedback or suggestions on these schools or other suny schools that would be greatly appriciated! thank you!!

I’m almost positive that Geneseo is the best for elem. education (i’ve heard from GC)

SUNY Cortland has a strong Education Dept. Your SAT’S might not be high enough for SUNY Geneseo. Good Luck.

My daughter did not get into Geneseo with SAT’s 100+ points higher than yours, but a somewhat lower GPA. She did get into Oneonta and did not apply to the other two. Oswego she just didn’t like and Old Westbury is too close to home and I would not pay for her to room there.

She is now at Plattsburgh in a 5 year program where she will come out with a BS and a masters’ in education (birth through grade 6) with certifications in childhood and elementary education and special ed for both levels. She loves the school, although it was her dead last choice.

One thing you need to consider is when you get into the ed program. She went in as a freshman to the ed program and was accepted into the 5 year after her first semester. At Geneseo, you have to take at least one ed course, do 25 or so hours of independent work with kids, do school visits in your second semester and only then can you apply to the Ed Dept and you might not be accepted. I know this because my friend’s child is at Geneseo following this path.

Cortland also has a good program if you want to commit to teach in urban areas but again you can’t apply until you’re already at the school and what happens if you don’t get in (I think it takes 15 a year).

Good luck to you.

Geneseo is well known for its rich education programs and truly is…
But… kinda your GPA is ok, but it would be bit more safe if you got higher SAT scores…
One thing obvious: Geneseo is the best school for you! Give it a try and good luck…
