I'm just wondering which SUNYs have the strongest physics programs. I'm looking for one or two to apply to. Thanks!

Definitely Geneseo [Department of Physics & Astronomy | SUNY Geneseo](Department of Physics & Astronomy | SUNY Geneseo)

Geneseo graduates more undergraduate physics students than any of the other SUNYs (Colleges or Universities)

Undergraduate Stats:

Geneseo has more physics grads than Stony Brook?

Re: Geneseo graduating more undergrad phsucis students than any other SUNY" as posted by GeneseoGrad, I have to post that I went to Geneseo’s website as it is hard to beleive this due to the size of the school as compared with undergraduate populations at both UBuffalo and Stony Brook, both known for great science programs.

From the Geneseo Physics website;
“On average, about seventeen physics majors graduate from Geneseo each year”

Look under the heading "department Highlights

Will not post about the pros and cons of Geneseo, UB or SB physics dept. OP should do their own research.

Stony Brook has the best science programs out of all the SUNY’s, but I would check others

I think UB is ranked higher than Stony Brook for some of the sciences. (Forget which or which rankings I looked at as it’s been a while.)

If you go the the Physics website of each school they provide a wealth of information concerning programs, research going on , student involvement, etc… Both schools have a tremendous amt of research going on.
