Best Texas college for technology related majors?

I'm currently at an overseas medical school and I've decided its far too much for me. I will have to go back and reapply to a Texas (in-state) college.

Any good recommended colleges?

1) Rice
2) UT
3) A&M
4) Tech

1) UT-Austin / Rice
2) Texas A&M
3) Texas Tech

Rice is a really prestigious school. UT Austin however, has some of the highest ranking and most respected engineering and computer science programs in the country.

It would be difficult to say which one is better because it depends on what type of school you’re looking for.

What do you mean by “technology”?

Regardless,

 1. UT-Austin
 2. Texas A&M / Rice (tie)

If engineering,
4. Houston
5. Texas Tech

If CS/IT,
4. UT-Dallas
5. Houston

1) UT
2) Rice
3) UT-D
4) A&M

from article dated 9/13/2011

“Among the best undergraduate engineering programs whose highest degree is a doctorate, Rice’s George R. Brown School of Engineering is in a three-way tie for No. 17 – up from No. 19 last year – with Texas A&M University-College Station and Pennsylvania State University-University Park.”

you really cannot go wrong with UT or TAMU for engineering, but you’d need to research the school itself since they are so wildly different; tuition, student life, city, admissions, etc. Even more so if you consider Rice as well.

Rice

If engineering, A&M (yeah, they just beat out UT. Whoop!). If CS then UT

CS-A&M. Engineering UT

Probably Tech.

SMU

UTD

Not sure if tech or smu’s better

You’re on drugs if you think A&M is better in technology related fields… Austin is the perfect place for technology, and UT’s EE dept. is like top 10.

Rice (reputation/teaching value)

Texas A&M
