Best things to do in SLO

To continue my thread-starting rampage, I figured we should come up with a list of things to do in and around SLO… Try and keep the parameters within one hour’s drive of SLO.

the town is a fun place, and the beach is right there. on weekends get on a train and go to LA, San Diego, or San Francisco (if you are willing to wait a few of hours sitting on a train- sorry this breaks you hour rule). Plus, they have a ton of intramural sports: i personally want to play football, and lacrosse. There are a ton of clubs (more than one hundred), and the school has a bowling league. That is all I can think of off the top of my head, but I’m sure there are things i missed.

haha thats cool i retract my hour rule… anything good to do in SLO or while attending cal poly…

good shopping, and shows in east la.
beaches in slo, pismo, santa barbara.

san francisco is an amazing city - if you are unfamiliar with it, check it out for sure…

Hiking in slo is fun. Especially up to the p.

is that bishop’s peak?

i wanna do that soooooooooooooooooooo so so so bad.
next time for sure.

San Luis Obispo’s Only Locally Owned Movie Theatre
The First Solar Powered Cinema in the USA !!

Showcasing the very best of Independent, Foreign,
Art House, and Mainstream Cinema.

The Palm annually hosts the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival.

The club sports that I’m interested in are rowing and sailing! I’ve been a rower for 4 years so I’m stoked about that, and sailing just sounds awesome. :)

DDR in the arcade  and the whole arts and crafts center in the student union.

Thursday nights in down town at the market

Actually thats a different one. Bishop’s is fun too. =)

yeah the farmers market looks pretty sweet… good food, can’t beat that. How are the restaurants in SLO

farmers market is a lot of fun! i got free chocolate last time i went :)

the restaurants are good! for a burger or chicken strips.. i’d recommend firestones! i’m a big fan of their chicken strips and tri tip sandwiches! they’ve got a special bbq sauce that’s reallyyy good! for sea food, splash cafe! they’ve got all sorts of different restaurants in slo that are good!

and for the shoppers…there is in fact an urban outfitters in slo!!!
i am so freaaaakin’ excited about that.
favorite store ever, and i never get to go, because the closest one i think is in arden fair mall, or sf.

does anyone know if there are any oxygen or hookah bars in SLO? I’m from boulder, CO so i’m kinda a hippy so that would make me feel more at home haha, jk!

so glad about UO, couldnt live without one, although the online store is equally as good as the regular one.

OH MY GOD Jack we will go shopping together when we get down there. UO is my stoooore!!! And there’s also a Ross and a Gap and a JAMBA JUICEEEE (of course because Jamba was a CP senior project!) and Trader Joe’s and Costco and gaaaaaaaah there really couldn’t be a better downtown than SLO.

One place that I know I’ll be going a lot for Saturday breakfasts and whatnot is Splash Cafe. It’s super close to campus and has great food. It’s on a corner next to a tiny little cute Spanish-looking motel. I think it’s bright yellow? That might’ve just been the vibe I got from it. I dunno.

hahhah yeayyyuuhhh, fersure! i lovvve urban outfitters. so totally my store too! the only place where i can really get clothes that i like…
gap is kind of expensive, and the clothes are sort of boring haha, jamba juice i love, but i have one where i live and go to school so it’s kind of like, oh whatever.

but yeahhhh uo!!! asdkfjasldfj yayyyy! :D

haha i love splash cafe, i went to the one in pismo.
i spent only like 10 minutes on the cp campus last time, i just sort of drove around. we went straight back on the freeway and stayed in pismo overnight. so this time down this spring break will be when i truly explore everything, so i am really excited. haha

i didn’t know there was a UO in slo! that’s great!! do you know where exactly?!

hey jack, maybe i’ll see you there during break :)

Jack, I agree about Gap actually. Khaki and conservative isn’t really my thing, but sometimes they have great T’s and tanks for the gym. And they have some good jeans once in a while!

UO is on Monterey street in the heart of downtown. It’s either one or two streets over from where they hold the farmer’s market.

And I’m pretty sure I’m going down there for Spring Break as well! Is your guys’ breaks the last week in March?

hmm i don’t know i could have missed it! but then again.. i spent most of my time eating in town on higuera haha

and yes! i’ll be there march 24th to march 29th!

Me too! Perhaps I’ll run into you! :)
