i find it really really difficult to find time to exercise during the day.

do you guys think it's insane to wake up at 4:30 and go for a job before school? i mean, if i come home after school and do it, i have to take a shower when im done, eat dinner, practice piano, walk the dog...and by the time im done with all that its 9 or so when i start my hw...

It's best to run in the morning. I read an article in a local running magazine (Northwest CitySports). Also, I don't think 4:30 is crazy. :)

"How to Run Like a Kenyan" By Roy Wallack
1) Run early in the morning, before breakfast. The Kenyans run three times a day in the early season and two in-season. But they always run at 6a.m. for three reasons: 1)The temperature is cooler; 2)It helps switch muscle fibers from slow-twitch to fast-twitch, the fibers that literally help you move faster; 3)With a minimum of easy-to-access fuels like muscle glycogen or bloodstream sugar in the system (your body utilizes a good deal of glycogen during the night), the body must learn to optimize the use of "intermuscle" fat- the plentiful but hard-to-access fat within the muscle.

Regular folk will enjoy similar training benefits and get a bonus they won't see in later-day training: weight-loss. The love handles that won't go away with regular exercise will be chewed-up by the empty body's early-morning energy needs. Be careful not to start out fast, however, as that requires the glycogen you don't have.

whoo hoo! weight loss! haha... i just want to be fit. im sick of being the chubby girl with all the athlete friends...thanks so much for the article.

now...the issue is how do i wake up so early? i have a hard time getting up in the morning...my dads yelled at me several times now for letting my alarm ring forever and wake up the entire family...

Hmm...interesting. Exercising at ANY time in the day will trim that waist, but maybe before breakfast is peak. Screw that, though. I need my sleep. I'll probably do it when I'm older.

Actually, I've read articles that say that the whole before breakfast thing is a myth... even if its not, don't worry so much about the morning thing. ANY time of day with exercise will benefit you more then no exercise. The minor difference that MAY occur because of exercising at 4am vs. 4pm won't be significant compared to the overall outcome. Finding a time of day that works with your schedule is more important because that is what you'll stick to.

I don't know how you could run after breakfast... I can't exercise with anything in my stomach if I intend to keep it in my stomach.

When I have to wake up really early, I set multiple alarms and I put them around my room in places I can't reach from the bed. Usually, if I have to get out of bed to turn them off, I'll just stay out of bed.
