Hey, anyone know when the gyms (Appel/Helen Newman) are most empty during the week (in terms of hours in the day)? I just feel most comfortable going when there are less people there. Thanks.

It’s empty from 6-7 am, for obvious reasons. It is definitely not empty towards closing time. I would try early evening or right after noon for the PM side of the day.

Last semester I always went around 4pm and there were only like 4-5 people in the weight area. Now this semester at that same time the place is packed. I think it’s best to go around 2pm in the afternoon since a lot of people are still in class or relaxing

i have gone to appel or HNH about every day for the past 3 years. i used to go at around 9:30-10 to run on the treadmill at appel until close, which is 11:30, just because there would be no one there (only 4 treadmills at appel is ridiculous, only 8 at HNH is even more ridiculous). dont plan on going any time between 5-9, people are finding a spare hour or two to squeeze in a workout in those hours. also, as someone mentioned, if you are a morning person, 6am works very well, but ive never mustered up enough energy to get up that early and run or lift weights.

obviously, it will depend on your studying schedule. i like to get my work done by 9 or so in order to workout before close. some people like to work at night so that’s not an option. in that case, 1 pm to about 3-4 pm is a good time to go.
