Best time to take the ACT?

I am a rising junior, and will be taking the ACT next year. Most people at my school take the SAT, and not the ACT. Therefore, I have no idea what the 'right' dates are to take the ACT. If possible, I would like to avoid having to take it during my senior year.

I was thinking maybe taking in February and again in April. How does that sound? When do most people take it?

April in junior year and then again in June if needed.

yah. April Junior year is the best. i regret taking my ACT in feb of junior year, i got a really low score. wait until april, that’s when you should get a better score. and study study study study.

I took the ACT in april of my junior year, and felt as though I was prepared/ knew the material (with the exception of science which I don’t think I’ll ever be good at) I’ll be taking it again this fall, just because I feel like having a better idea of what to expect might help. I feel like by June, if you’re also taking the SAT or AP tests, you’ll probably be exhausted, so I’d recommend waiting to retest in the fall unless your one of those test-crazy types who plans to take it 893464 times.

I think it depends on the curriculum you have taken in school. I took a relatively hard one freshman and soph year so I’m going to take the ACT and SAT in September and October respectively of Jr. year. But if your curriculum isn’t as rigorous, you might benefit from waiting until the end of Jr. year to take them.

Kinda related with SAT - I waited until March of my junior year to take the SAT…
For the ACT, I would strongly advise taking it in February! It gives you so much more flexibility in my opinion. I didn’t realize all the testing/stuff I had to do by the end of the year, and I wish I had taken the January SAT…
Junior Year
February - ACT
January/March - SAT if you want to try it
April - ACT retake
May - APs: you will be tired
June - probably SAT 2s: most schools require some - check beforehand
Senior Year - HOPEFULLY NO TESTING!!!
However, like amaster008 said, you may get a lower score in Feb. Even if this is true, you will have a real testing experience under your belt and know what you can improve on! Plus, by taking it earlier, you have more flexibility with when you can take it! You can choose April/June! Good luck!
