Now that we have an acceptance, I'm wondering about the best time to visit the campus. We're scheduled for "Picture Yourself at Pitt" on 11/12, but would it make more sense to come for an "admitted students" or "Honors College" weekend instead? Do they even offer those, should we just come (from Chicago) more than once, etc.

Any experiences?

sujormik: If it were me, I’d keep your original plan to attend Picture yourself at Pitt. The first admitted student program date lookslike Feb. 25, which is quite a ways off. I think the weather will be nicer if you go now.

The best advice I ever got was visit a college campus at the worst time (weather). If you can love your campus when it’s cold/cloudy/rainy, you’ll definitely love it when it’s shiny/warm/sunny. But if you feel confident you’d love it in the rain, visit when it’s nicer.

HOWEVER, this is Pittsburgh we’re talking about. Weather is NEVER a guarantee, I’ve seen snow in October and warm February months…

We decided to stick with November, she REALLY wants to go soon. Found one kid from her HS who is there, hoping this girl will bring her around a bit, see dorms, kids, etc. Figured if we bring her out to dinner…depending on schedule of course.

AND now I’m heading to Pittsburgh the week before PYAP to see Bruce Springsteen at Soldier’s and Sailor’s Hall!

Wow, that’s a small place for him to play! you must have been lucky to get tickets!

He plays with Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers, old friend of his. Was there last year first weekend of November too, I flew in last minute for that as well. It was AMAZING, sound in there is awesome. Seats about 2300, I was in the front row one night and LAST row the other night. Great.

I’m a big fan. In case you couldn’t tell LOL.

AND he just toured Skidmore with his son…thinking of looking at the “S” colleges now! ;-)
