What is the best dorm for transfer students? I saw that UVA has a specific one, but I heard that it was sort of far from everything. I really want to be somewhere with a underclassmen (first years/sophomores), so that I have the chance to meet people.

You might consider the International Residential College, they have at least 1/6 first years and lots of events to meet people at.

As a former transfer, Lambeth and Bice are the best dorms, they’re mostly second years, a few third. Try looking around online for people trying to get out of their contracts. Don’t do Gooch, Faulkner, Copely, etc. Too far and not very ideal for transfers.

Do you know of a website besides ULoop that people use, Shoebox?

I second Bice, although I am sure it is a coveted area. My brother lived at the end of Brandon Ave. for a couple years and he literally just had to roll out of bed and he was practically to Central Grounds. I imagine the location is even more ideal now for getting to the South Lawn buildings (?)

I agree! The IRC does have a great community. You can check out their youtube video here: [YouTube - International Residential College (IRC) Movie Part I - University of Virginia (UVA)](<a href=“International Residential College (IRC) Movie Part I - University of Virginia (UVA) - YouTube”>International Residential College (IRC) Movie Part I - University of Virginia (UVA) - YouTube)

Also here is their website: [University of Virginia International Residential College (IRC)](http://www.virginia.edu/irc/).

Lambeth is far. Live in Bice or in one of the language houses if you can.

Avoid Hereford as well. Lambeth and Bice were my first choices, and I think Hereford was maybe my second to last (I guess they want you to think that your preferences matter). About 60-70% of the people here are anti-social.
