Best transfer options?

The big state school didn't end up being everything it was chalked up to be, so I might consider transferring to a prestigious private school if I could get decent aid. I've always wanted to go to Notre Dame, but that's just me.

I'm not paying anything to go to Oklahoma State on a state scholarship..but I don't fit in here to say the least. I know it would be easier to just find a new group of friends, but transferring isn't out of the question, esp since it might even be advantageous..with gen ed stuff out of the way for free and raised my academic profile.

My question is what schools I should look at in particular that would give generous finaid to a transfer? I see no point in switching schools if it's going to cost me thousands, unless we're talking highly prestigious. I would only take on thousands in student loans for a Top 30/Top 40 school, period. The schools around here I've looked into don't offer very decent finaid for transfers and they aren't prestigious enough for me to pay the big bucks for undergrad at (TCU, Tulsa, SMU, Baylor, et all). And I'm not Einstein so I realize I would be paying near full tuition at a "dream school" like ND, Northwestern, JHU, WUSTL, and others, but I might not mind.

My stats are..
Political Science/History double major
Freshman gpa 3.1
Cumulative gpa 3.6
Junior with 68 credit hours

I've done better in college than I did in hs, where I had a 3.0 gpa and a 28 ACT, so that will def hurt me. My first semester was a 3.1 because I was too busy getting my balls hazed off to pledge a fraternity (no joke). But overall I've been a pretty sharp student.

My campus involvement is top-notch. I have photos with Senator Coburn, Paul Miller, and Boone Pickens for what it's worth lol. I'm on several councils and did well over 100 hours of community service my first semester, and I'm in a fraternity (that I hate). I'm pretty good at writing essays.

Any ideas would be appreciated, and fully investigated lol. Just so many damn colleges, thought I was done with this stuff years ago.. I'm personally big on places with lots of tradition, but ironically, I'm not a very "traditional" guy. Real into sports and stuff, but also openly gay, more into hanging out at coffee shops and bookstores, and I love urban settings. Prefer east coast over California any day.

You sound like a good fit for Wash U. Not on the East Coast, but has an East Coast feel. Very expensive, but if you can get in you might get some fin aid from them. You might give them a visit and see.
