Well now that Ryan Glenn says it’s true we can all rest easy. It’s isn’t like the only people that have posted any credible evidence in this thread have shown the three schools are all tied…

You guys can be such dorks. What is this, high school again?

I think all of the schools you applied to are good schools. In terms of grad school, the most important thing is to have good grades, research (for PhD) or work/internship (for Master’s/Professional) experience and good letters of recommendation as well as good GRE scores. For Poli Sci, UCI is actually very well ranked.

I would look at which campus you would feel more comfortable as well as the scholarship/financial aid offer at each campus. Also consider the department at each campus, however. For example, I ended up not applying to UCSC simply because their (very good) Poli Sci department is very international in focus and I wanted a more domestically focused Poli Sci department. Look at who teaches at each school and what courses are offered. Do you like the professors and course offerings at UCI?

Finally, to those who are trying to compare schools like UCD and UCI: I think you really need to look at each individual department, especially in answering a question like the one Cheery is asking. UCD is ranked much higher in the life sciences, for example, while UCI probably outranks UCD in engineering and computer sci. Each campus has its own strengths and weaknesses!

Two people at the law firm I work in graduated from UCI then went on to UCLA SOL. One of them was a Poli Sci major, while the other studied Criminology.

It all depends on how well you do at your undergrad. This professor went to UCI and went on to law school at Harvard. He may be the exception, but you never know where you will be accepted. My friend went to Occidental College and got accepted to Harvard but ended up at John Hopkins because of the financial aid package. Your best bet is to listen to someone that has been there and done that, not someone from a UC Transfer forum.

Thanks everyone!

I gave up the full ride at UCI and chose UCLA

Congratulations, welcome to the Bruin family. :)

I think it is important to distinguish from departments and schools. Grad schools look at the department with more scrutiny than they consider the school.

One more hot Bruin. Period.
