Best UC For Psychology?

So far I’ve been looking at various UCs for a plethora of reasons (parties, student body, location, etc), but I would like to get CC’s opinion on what is the best UC for psychology. I really don’t wanna go to berkeley but you can state your opinion either way, thanks again.

would like to know too

Just remember that ranking which is what people use to say one university is better than another are for grad schools, not undergrad. You may not want to attend the UC with the best grad school for undergrad since there is a good chance they will want you to go somewhere else for grad school besides where you went for undergrad. That being said check out UCSB's web site. I think they are highly ranked (for grad school only) in psych. IMHO you should go to a school that is a good fit for you for undergrad and ignore ranks until grad school.

ucla or berkeley for sure

links please since you say for sure

i know ucla/berkeley/ucsd all have great psych programs, but does anyone know how the mid-tier (UCI, UCSB, UCD) rank in terms of their psych programs? im going to be a psych major and will likely go to a uc.

6. Cal
11. UCSD
12. UCLA

thanks beast dude. take note this ranking is for PHD programs not undergrad.

here is another ranking that puts UCLA and UCSB one space apart with CAL even further down the list:

Guys, let me give you a little hint about rankings: they're all pretty much for PhD programs. Anytime you see a departmental ranking, they're focusing on the quality of the PhD program.

However, one can argue that the quality of the PhD students will have a very big effect on your program's quality as well.

Voiceofreason, the site I posted is for undergrad.

All can provide enough to get students anywhere they want to go- I know a person who did amazingly well at UCR and is now at the top psych program in his field.

UCLAri is right that most rankings relate to graduate programs. Fit is best, and see prereqs for studying psych (Berkeley and UCLA have a handful each).

beast your link says the report is from 1997, a little too dated to be relevant dude.

Yes and no. There have been surprisingly few changes in rankings in the past 10 years of top PhD programs.

He claims his link is for undergraduate schools.

Psychology here is good, but it's a packed major. Be prepared should you choose to fight it out here.

Fight it out? Eh. B+ average is all you need. It's really non-intense fighting, but it is a big time commitment. And if you want letters of rec from clinical psych people, well, then maybe there will be fighting. :)

I've heard that the lower division courses recently have become very intense, at least.

all the UCs are relatively strong in psychology since it is such a popular major
I would be more worried about environment and a "best" fit
