I am interested in getting an MBA, but not sure exactly what route I will take. Nothing really matters about the school, except having the best business environment. I will post my stats just to give an idea of my caliber.
UW GPA: 3.77
UC GPA: 4.08
AP Classes: 10
SAT: 1550
Hispanic
EC: Nothing amazing, officer of a few clubs and some community service and leadership
From my research, Berkley and UCLA could be my target schools while the lower tier UC schools can be safety. I heard Stanford is also good for business, and I plan to apply early action. But I highly doubt I am at the median applicant level.
Regardless, I would just like to know which UC school is best for me without being a reach.
I think UCLA and Berkeley are probably Target schools for you. I’d give the slight edge to Berkeley with the Haas school if you get into both, but definitely visit because they have different vibes for sure.
I’m a little bit confused right now. Are you currently a college student or high school student? I don’t think UCLA or Stanford have undergraduate business programs. Stanford does have a “Mgmt Science & Engineering” program.
I am in High School. I just want the best place to set myself up for the MBA. Maybe make lots of connections or earn a related major.
I think UCB, UCLA and Stanford are reaches for you. The middle UCs could go either way. UCSC, UCR and UCM would almost certainly take you. UCR has a very solid business program. SDSU, which you didn’t mention, has a really solid biz program, good alumni network, good reputation - especially in SoCal, and would almost certainly admit you.
Good luck
You do not need to go to a UC to get into a good MBA program. As stated above, only UCB/UCI and UCR offer Business schools at the UC’s but many of the Cal States including SDSU, Cal Poly SLO, Cal State Fullerton etc… offer academically challenging and excellent Business programs. You are a competitive applicant and you have a good chance at many of the schools on your list but UCB/UCLA and Stanford will be very tough admits. Make sure you apply broadly and have some solid safety schools on your list.
