Best UCs and CSUs for Comparative Lit

Hey,

I'm a new student at San Diego Mesa College and plan on transferring to a four year university and major in Comparative literature or possibly English. So my question is which UCs and CSUs have the best english/literature/foreign language departments?

Thanks Everyone.

-Leyden

UCI has one of the best Comparative Lit programs from what I understand in the UC system

[NRC Rankings in Comp. Lit.](http://www.stat.tamu.edu/~jnewton/nrc_rankings/area3.html)

Apply to Irvine, Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD and UC Riverside. YES Riverside, they are #26 and strong in that area. Check out the rankings on the link.

Thanks Guys!

Does anyone know is CSU Long Beach is any good? I would like to transfer to the best UC/CSU possible and then teach English in France for two years before applying to The Middlebury Bread Loaf School of English. So I would like to find the school that would prepare me for Middlebury

i don’t know anything about csulb’s english department but csulb is a great, good value school from what i have heard. i don’t attend THE BEACH but i live about 8 min. away and have made frequent visits, nice campus, good overall vibe.

tell me more about “The Middlebury Bread Loaf School of English.”

Those rankings are 14 years old, and for graduate schools.
