Best UCSD College?

I’m applying to UCSD for transfer in the fall of 2018, but I’m so overwhelmed by all the information on the website and I’d like some realistic views of the colleges.

Info about me:
-Math major, Pre-Med
-have completed IGETC, so most of the colleges don’t require a lot from me as far as GE’s go, except for sixth their website info was a little hard to read
-will probs be living off-campus so dorms, etc. don’t really affect me
-social, but also want to have access to good studying spaces
-i want to be able to take UD non-major classes (want to continue learning german, interested in digital art, and also pre-med)
-don’t care for writing

So I’m thinking my top choices are: Sixth (for their technology focus), Warren (for UD art classes), and Muir (social and apparently easy to double major?)
Revelle, ERC, and Marshall all sound kinda lame tbh. Convince me otherwise?

Have you checked out this link: http://provost.ucsd.edu/colleges/#start

Just for fun, this is copied from a UCSD student/CC poster:

UCSD college personalities:
Revelle:

  • tryhards and nerds
  • GEs way too hard
  • lotta international students
  • smarter than Muir

Muir:

  • hippie environmentalists
  • too much spirit
  • looks like a prison
  • dumber than Revelle

Marshall:

  • social justice warriors
  • diversity or something
  • they don’t have to take DEI

Warren:

  • engineers
  • smells like engineers
  • food tastes like it was cooked by engineers
  • cool bear tho

ERC:

  • hot and spirited people
  • fit bc they walk a mile to get anywhere
  • GEs way way too hard
  • parties

Sixth:

  • there are no people here
  • sixth is completely inhabited by raccoons
  • horrible housing

HAHA those descriptions are hilarious (especially Sixth’s) and yeah I did check out the link, that’s the link that was overwhelming. There’s just so much information. Thankfully it seems that when you transfer all the requirements are less extreme.

So far I’m thinking:

  1. Muir
  2. Warren
  3. Sixth
  4. ERC
  5. Revelle
  6. Marshall

ERC !!!

Especially since you are living off campus the college you pick means nothing other than what classes you take. No matter what college you are in you can study in any college you want! Pick the one that will give you the least GE’s that you don’t want to take, like writing. (Revelle and ERC probably aren’t for you)

I am a revelle student who lives off campus, and all Revelle does is tells me the GE’s I have to take and the advising office I go to, nothing more :)). The 6 college system is really overhyped, in my opinion.

Transferring, ERC is super easy. I just don’t recommend Chang. You’re only required 2 classes for ERC transfers.
