<p>Just got my acceptance letter from UNC today! To say I'm happy is a serious understatement. Anyway, I thought I'd ask what is the best dorm for me to try to live in? Some I've considered are Morrison, Koury, and Carmichael. I'd like it to be suite style and AC is a must. What are you guy's opinions?</p>
<p>first off, congratulations!
this is a tough question b/c it all depends, and this is my own opinion, others might disagree. quality-wise koury is the best of the three but socially, morrison will be the easiest to meet people. carmichael is somewhere in the middle of the two (and ive heard very good things about it).
personally, i hated living in a high rise at the time but looking back, it was the perfect freshman year experience and i made many lifelong friends our of it that i probably would not have otherwise. bottomline is those three are all very very good choices and you cant wrong!</p>

<p>(1. Morrison- Heard its the best looking dorm on South Campus and also I like the fact that its been newly renovated. However, Ive also heard its very hard to get into because of those traits.</p>
<p>(2. Koury- Heard its a very nice dorm as well and it seems Id more likely go there since its not quiet as hard to get into</p>
<p>(3. Horton- Process of elimination(wanting to be closer to South Campus since thats where mostly all Freshmen are located and closer to the Dean Dome 
) has made this my third choice. Im reading Hojo(great nickname btw) is great for meeting people, but the suite rooms dont have locks to keep people from entering into your room from the bathroom and there isnt central AC…big concerns. So I think that leaves Horton as a third choice.</p>
<p>Yeah that is a big concern of mine too. The AC!</p>
<p>My son live lives in Hinton James and there is a lock to enter the suite, and a lock on each individual door. If you lock your door, you cannot enter from the bathroom without a key. There is also air conditioning which, if anything, when I visited I was cold!</p>
<p>His only complaint is the distance to and from classes. It’s a 15 minute walk.</p>
<p>Horton isn’t the same as “HoJo”…right? HoJo is hinton james (a high rise), and horton is one of the four directional dorms</p>
<p>HoJo is Hinton James, Horton is a seperate building.</p>
<p>My son lived in HoJo his first year. It is good for meeting people since it houses mostly freshman, all looking to meet new people. The location is inconvenient. Although there is no central AC, he did have a window AC. The suites are not really suites as there is no common living area - just four rooms and a hallway leading to the common bathroom. Someone cleans the bathroom for you once a week. And yes, there were locks on all the doors. This year he is in Morrison in a supersuite (only a few floors have supersuites). There are three bedrooms, a common bathroom and a great shared living space. I remember that this site had great information to help you choose the best living arrangement for you.</p>
