Best Under Chem Eng Programs

I was just interested in what the people at college confidential think are the best Undergraduate Chemical Engineering Universities/ Programs in the nation.

bump... I'd like to know too

Minnesota, MIT, Berkeley, Wisconsin, Illinois, Caltech, and Stanford are all at the top. Minnesota and MIT are possibly "first among equals."

I think you meant michigan instead of minnesota again. Also throwing my profs alum Delaware on there too. Can't imagine why one out of state would go there but oh well it's top ten.

Since we're talking undergrad here, we cannot neglect fine institutions like RoseHulman and Cooper Union.

What do u guys think about Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ? Have you heard about it?

No, he meant Minnesota. Michigan is good in Chem-E, but Minnesota is one of the top 2 or 3 in the nation, up there with MIT and Cal.

Oh really? Well strike that and switch Minnesota's placement with Minnesota. I was just pointing out the fact that he wrote it twice and since I figured he messed up the second time (who messes up the first) and that Michigan was actually the one up there with MIT and Cal I thought Michigan. My bad, thanks Alexandre.

Minnesota is good for chem engineering? oh, now you tell me...don't suppose it's too late to apply?

What about University of Rochester? Is it good?

I would say Rochester is on par with Cooper Union, Bucknell, Rose-Hulman. Good but nothing special (like MIT/Minnesota). I could be wrong though.

The schools that get really famous and have "prestigious programs" are the ones with famous professors and big science research going on. While some undergraduate colleges do offer world-class educations (Harvey Mudd certainly has an excellent program), the general lack of world-class research going on at those schools prevents them from becoming as famous as the big universities. Maybe it's not fair, but it's the status quo.

Just go to UC Berkeley....their chemical engineering undergraduate program is ranked in the top 3 in the nation.

Harvey Mudd

We're talking undergrad. Those schools are top GRAD schools...

Chalk, there are undergraduate rankings for Engineering programs and Cal is at the top of those rankings too.

chalk,

mudd doesn't have a chemE program - what they have is a broad, general eng. program.

Rose-Hulman, Cooper Union, Bucknell, Rowan

Cooper Union and Rose-Hulman, maybe MIT too. Cooper Union is known for their CE major.

Purdue's in the top 10.. how come no one's said Purde?
