What are some good undergrad business schools that are not in the ivy league?

The ivies dont generally have undergrad business programs

There the obvious - Northwestern, Michigan, Wash U, etc. No first hand knowledge, but have heard that Bentley has amazing job placement.

^^ Northwestern had a biz certificate program, but no biz major.

The only ivys with undergrad b schools are Penn and Cornell. You can find the best schools here: [Best Undergraduate Business Schools 2012 - Businessweek](<a href=“Bloomberg - Are you a robot?”>Bloomberg - Are you a robot?)

MIT Sloan, Berkeley Haas (Haas is not guaranteed - have to apply during sophomore year at Berkeley, 50% internal admit), NYU Stern (finance oriented), Michigan Ross.

Though most of the Ivies will place into business jobs better than the above schools (except MIT, which is up there with the top Ivies).

You could always look at the rankings (with a grain of salt): http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/business-overall

@Kajon- Wash U has a crappy undergrad b-school.

Terenc is pretty on point. Also UVA, Notre Dame, and Carnegie Mellon are noteworthy

I heard Southern Methodist University in Texas is good, because of its powerful alumni network.

WUSTL is a crappy business school? What basis is there for that statement?

^ The same basis that there has been for everything else said on this thread.

Which is…? Here is my basis

Ranked in the top 15 biz schools by businessweek and US News and World Report the last two years…

[Best Undergraduate Business Schools 2012 - Businessweek](<a href=“Bloomberg - Are you a robot?”>Bloomberg - Are you a robot?)

[Best Undergraduate Business Programs | Rankings | US News](http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/business-overall)

Not saying that rankings are an end all, but they are no doubt a good start.

So, explain to me again how konrad’s statement has any legitimacy? If his basis is the same as everyone elses in this thread, then this thread is full of nonsense.

That would be correct sir.

I’m catching your drift

Let’s use our heads guys… The OP means what other undergrads besides the ivies are strong for business

USNWR rankings are worse than useless. It’s even worse when people spread this kudzu on CC.

How about people providing responses based on their own first hand experience and not relying on worn out news magazine tripe?

Wash U’s b-school does not have a known reputation and I read once on ************** that the b-school is subpar compared to the rest of the school…

Plus it’s in St Louis, middle of nowhere… Closest big city is 500 miles away

@LakeClouds: I agree that in an ideal world only people who have personally experienced all the colleges in question would be able to comment on the issue, but that’s really unrealistic. Firstly, nobody has ever attended every single top business school. Secondly, even of those people who attended one and transferred to another, you’re going to find very very few of those people on CC, and even those that do come here are unlikely to have attended the exact two colleges the OP wants to know about, and are also unlikely to be active enough on CC to see the OP’s question.

UNC Chapel Hill. Personal experience. Great value too.

Think about where you’d like to stay and live after undergrad, and then look into placement. I think some schools, like UNC are more nationally regarded. But it depends on where you would like to end up.

UNC, UVA, MIT, Villanova, Georgetown, BErkely, UMICH

Thanks for all your responses!

Says the 18 year old who uses some unmentionable source to back up his statement…

And, St. Louis is certainly not in no-man’s land. Chicago, Memphis, and KC are all less than 350 miles away from STL, and STL is by no means a small city itself.

And as for the rankings comment, they are not perfect and are at times misleading. But, when taking rankings in conjunction with one another, they can offer a general perspective as to where schools are positioned academically.
