Top 2 Undergrad Econ Programs:

Harvard, LSE

Harvard is arguable, but LSE is not really at that level...not anymore anyway. The top 2 are Chicago and MIT. Cal, Harvard, Princeton and Stanford are also excellent. LSE is more are the level of Columbia, Northwestern, Penn and Yale...which is pretty excellent.

QS Top Universities: University rankings in the Social Sciences

so much to as "LSE is not really at that level". In some studies, LSE even beats Harvard in the social sciences. No university but Chicago can beat LSE in terms of economic influence. Princeton and Stanford are excellent as well.
I would pose Yale far above Columbia at the social sciences, though. In terms of publications and research, Yale is in the top 10.

Jipperag, the Times is clueless when it comes to academic rankings of US universities. At any rate, I don't think LSE is on par with Chicago and MIT or even Harvard in Economics.

Why should the Times be clueless when it comes to academic ranking of US universities? I find many people say that when they see UK universities beat their US counterparts.
But if you would prefer a US ranking, look for the Yale Worldwide Economics ranking. LSE is consistently ranked 2nd or 3rd.

Can I go into Finance like a financial analyst with an undergraduate econ degree?

yes! you can

Absolutely. I certainly did.

How about Pepperdine?

UCB
UCLA
UCSD

UCI or UC Davis?

Davis for econ.

How about Davis or Riverside for econ?

I think the best have been said over and over again and it's become quite obvious which school's have the best undergraduate economics programs, so I won't repeat. I'd jsut like to add that TONS of people have pointed out the best undergrad business programs for economics when that has nothing to do with anything. The top schools in undergraduate economics offer it as a liberal arts study or as a social science study---I did the research and looked at their websites. So please stand corrected, as the two are very different in form.

I was also reading something in the WSJ on how the London School of Economics ranks second or third in the world for economics, and Oxford & Cambridge are also in the top ten, however I beleive that their education system works different from ours thats split into undergrad/grad school and I think the asker meant national schools only. So sorry if this is irrelevant.

Doesn't Harvard out-rank MIT in economics?

How about UNC-Chapel Hill?

How's the economics department at Denison University? What exactly can you do with an economics degree after graduation? Can you get a good job with only a BA? BA or BSA?

I'm sad Rutgers is no where near mentioned. Not saying it should be, but Milton Friedman graduated from here!!!!!!!

^^ and look what he did to the south american countries...

thanks guys! helpful info
