Best undergraduate economics program

i have got a 2030 in my sat.. i want to do majors in eco.. so someome please suggest me some colleges .. it would really be very helpful

how is nyu's eco prog???

NYU has a top-notch econ program.

thanx a lot.. can smeone please suggest some other good colleges with good eco prog in which i have realistic chances of getting in with a score if 2030

Wisconsin--Madison has a great economics department and might even be a safety school with that SAT score

How good you would say Northeastern University's economics program is? They are ranked 26th nationally (business week) for business but does that mean that they are roughly the same for economics?

Take a look at MIT Open CourseWare Economics. Free Online MIT Course Materials | Economics | MIT OpenCourseWare

I was really impressed how they taught their intro. microeconomics course.

I don't have the stats to get into MIT but does Northeastern do a good job?

bump...........

If Northeastern is the best school you get into, go there. It doesn't matter much beyond that.

I'm not sure if it's the "best I can get into" but I like it the most.

Anyways, I hear rankings of specific majors doesn't matter too much (unless it is like business, engineering).

penn's econ program owns!!1 ( CAS...because I'd rather not sell my soul to the devil..lol jk). But I'm a bit biased i guess :)

What do you like about the Penn Econ program? It seems very limited for undergrad by Wharton. Most schools have econ classes in finance, but Penn seems to lack that just because of Wharton.

Penn has a good econ department. I wouldn't worry so much about it.

If you want to take finance classes in wharton, you can still do that, even if you're a student at CAS. That's the thing, I'd rather hand pick a couple of wharotn finance courses and take those as a CAS econ major, than have to bore my way through accounting, marketing courses etc.

Rice Mathematical Economics program looks really nice.

what about a place like uni of illinois at urbana champaign? the business (accy. & finance) school is good but i never heard anything about the econ department.

BUT I like Accounting...don't know about Marketing though.

How is Tulane's econ department? I know its not elite but is it considered good?

Would a double major in economics and international development be a good idea at Tulane?

Would this be attractive to a variety of employers? I'm not exactly sure what I want to do after college in terms of a career but I want to pursue an MBA and I want to do something with an international emphasis. Would finance be better than International development?

Thanks
