Hello, I am a 16 year old soon-to-be high school senior. In the past few years of high school I have had mostly A's with a sprinkle of B's. I have of weighted GPA of 4.09 (my school counts A's as a 4 and the extra is from AP classes. Throughout all of my years I plan to complete 7+ AP course (much of which is yet to come). So far I have taken the SAT only once and received an 1840. However I do plan to take it once more. I also have received a 720 on the Chemistry Subject Test, a 690 on Math level 2, and a 680 in Biology. I got a 4 on both the Biology and Chemistry AP tests. I plan to go into the medical field in the future so I was wondering what the best college for a pre-med program is for me. Help is greatly appreciated.

Where do you live? What area would you prefer your college be? Is money a factor?

Also, increasing your SAT score is extremely important

I live in California. I do not mind going out of state for college and I will find the money from somewhere, so money is not an issue. I do plan to increase my score and I forgot to mention that I may take the ACT too. Also I have played tennis all of my high school years and I plan to play my last year also. I am involved in a few clubs and I volunteer at a Boys and Girls Club near me. I play the trumpet (I am a little rusty but I will pick it back up).

Just curious but do you want to play tennis in college?

Yes. I do want to continue it, if only as a stress reliever.

‘find the money from somewhere’ is not a plan. That can put you in the situation of wasting time applying to schools that you can’t attend.

For medical school, everyone here says that the very most important things are gpa and mcat scores. So go to a college where you will get the top grades. Head over to the premed section of this board to read up.

Ok. “Find the money from somewhere” was not exactly what I meant. My dad has a good job to where he has already said he would put me through college (private or not and med school), but I do not want him to pay the entirity of it, so I said what I said.

Look at Kalamazoo College if $$ not a concern. Strong in science and tennis and a good rep for sending students to Med Schools.

Well actually, now I’m thinking that I should try a school like UC Davis here in California because med school is going to be expensive as it is

I think you are on the right track - save on undergrad so you can spend more on Med school. Like BrownParent said, GPA is important for getting into med school so go somewhere for your undergrad that you know you can come out with a great GPA. Stay close to home so you can save on travel costs now and go where you want later.
