My daughter is starting to check out art schools on the west coast for graphic design. We also want to check out top college/university programs (non art schools) what universities on the west coast have the best graphic design programs? Thanks!
When went to school for Graphic Design in California (30 years ago) the two best Universities were San Jose State and Cal Poly. I chose San Jose State and the program was excellent. You are admitted as a entered as a BA in Design and have to take some prerequisites and pass a portfolio review to enter the BFA Graphic Design program. It is competitive enough and some never make it but you can improve your portfolio and keep trying. Cal Poly still has a great program and I believe it is direct entry but it is a concentration in design. I also hear good things about CSU Long Beach and UCLA. Not sure if they are concentrations or not. Best of Luck.
